It's a gear which stayed a long time in the sea ? yeah.... it was kinda trippy. i was taking pictures at the "Glass Beach" @ Fort Bragg, CA, and it was getting really dark. i was walking around and just saw this lying there on the beach amongst all kinds of weird sealife and algae covered rocks. i didn't touch it to see if this was part of a bigger piece, and just took pictures of it just as it sat, half uncovered in the washed up sand.
