wow, great shot. That bull is lucky you were a photographer and not a hunter & that you're in yellowstone, he's got quite a rack on that head.

I noticed you have a few "Yellowstone National Park Elk" threads, saw your location, and wondered if you knew of http://www.nps.gov/yell/parknews/09007.htm (external link) (Accident Claims Life of Infamous Yellowstone Elk). It was a few years back, but you might find it interesting.

Thanks and thanks for the link. There's been one in Mammoth raising havoc this year charging and ramming cars and trucks. Last I heard he knocked off one half of his rack and looks pretty strange. :D

You are welcome. I wondered if the elk raising havoc is Number 10, also mentioned in the above linked article but it is not, http://billingsgazette.com …55-98bd-82a1ea9859be.html (external link) There is a short "Western" film about Yellowstone NP elk which I could NOT find a link to, but I believe some footage (not very much at all) from Yellowstone NP was used in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=794wEIbHlDc (external link)

Number 6 from Yelowstone

I saw your elk photos the other day. The one you posted here is very picturesque. The #6 bull 1000arms referred to is one I happen to have a few pictures of from October of 2006. I was new to photography and should have had lots of nice photos of him, but I still hadn't learned how to take nicer photos yet. Here is link to a photo of him. If posting it in this thread is a problem in any way I'll delete it.

Nice Shot wtlwdwgn.
I think the one up in Mammoth is called Touchdown. He is a 7X7. I got a few shots of him two weeks ago with his rack in tack.

Beautiful pictures, I live in exceptional elk territory as well. I spend every day I can in the field. I hope to capture some as great as yours!
