I have been haveing an issue with my 85 1.8 on my 6D. Every once in a while I get the error 01. Only this lense on this body. At first I thought it was the lense, cleaned contacts etc. Still happens. I am using a vello grip but because it doesnt happen on my other lenses I suspected the lense. It got bad today, happening about 40 percent of the shots. I removed the grip and errors have been gone.

Anyone else had this problem?

Guess I will be splurging for the canon grip :)

How long have you had the grip? Is it still under warranty?

I hate to say it because I loved my Vello grip - same quality as oem and a fraction of the price. But I had 2 die/go bad on me on my 5d3. Just couldn't trust them anymore. Shame, really is

It has a one year warranty and I am halfway through. B&H is closed for sukkot so I will contact them after the 18th.

The build quality is really good- I have a Canon grip on my 650 and they are similar- but the errors are killing me. Sometimes no errors, next time crippling the session for a few minutes.

Been a heck of a week as my YN 560tx is also one of the buggy units- waiting for the dealer to get back to me....

Yeah, I know how that goes. I think I'd send the Vello in for warranty repair and then sell it and put that money towards buying a Canon model. Good luck.:)

Hmmmm... Sounds like the "fraction of the price" won out here.

UPDATE: Purchased a second battery for the grip. With two batteries installed I had no errors on a wedding gig last night. I will be testing vigorously this week to see if that eliminated the problem.
