R/C E Jets International / BVM Models

I haven't posted much from my summer of R/C events so I'll start with my trip to Columbus Ohio to attend E Jets International, which is an all EDF (electric ducted fan) event. The event had to relocate when weather caused a serious set back to getting the runway paved at the originally planned location & unfortunately the back up location meant shooting towards the sun for a big part of each day. The models in this thread are all designed & manufactured by Bob Violett Models which from what I'm told are some of the best out there. That's Bob with his A 10.

Good shots of them. I looked up theA-10 here. Expensive devils, aren't they?

I heard that the one in my photos was worth roughly $15,000 as seen. Not sure though if that price included the available armament package which it wasn't wearing.

For that kind of money I'd want it to have a strap on saddle? ; D

great shots. Would love one of these, never likely to have enough money though and then doubt I would dare fly the thing if I did. Noise is incredible from them though.

That was $25,000 & he has an even more expensive one being built right now.

Shake N Vac, the electric ones aren't that noisy but the gas turbines sure can be. They are also a lot more expensive. I'll be posting some other highlights of the summer's events including a photo or 2 of a really nice scale turboprop Tucano.

These guys are doing some interesting things with them, but I look at the chopper & my first thought is that my new car cost less than that! OTOH, I spent a lot of $s racing for an attic full of tarnished silver, so I guess I shouldn't talk too much? ; )

I won't go into what I spent drag racing way back when but other than having fun it didn't pay off in results.

If I won the lottery I would certainly be getting myself something like the Vulcan bomber near the bottom of this page - 4 gas turbines in that one!!

Not got quite that much money though so I am currently saving up for this Christmas to get the smaller one also on that page (theres an electric ducted fan version now instead of the pusher prop).

Joel, it was at Darby Dan Airport which I believe is a sort of private airport. The event was scheduled to take place at Deer Creek State Park but paving (to lengthen an existing parking area) was delayed due to heavy rains mid summer. That's where it will be held next year.

Shake N Vac, That's awesome. It seems the modelers in the UK are into REALLY Giant Scale stuff. I've seen links to several of the events over there & there are a lot of really big models.

Stunning images. They look like mfg ads as they are so sharp, clear, colorful and have no signs of dents or wrinkles. If you hadn't said these were models, then I would have thought....
