I hope someone can help. I have been using LR4.4, and like it, a lot. Today I installed LR 5.0. As soon as I opened it, it suggested I do an update. 931MB later, it installed LR 5.6.
Now I have all three versions (4.4, 5.0, 5.6) installed and working on my computer. Version 5 updated and copied my library, so now I have two libraries. Version 5.6 uses the same library as version 5.

I have just over 1,000 GB of free disk space. No problems there. Is there any reason to leave all 3 installed? Is there any reason to un-install any version? And the really big question: Why the heck doesn't it just do an update right over the old program, like everyone else does?

It's always updated over an existing one on my PC.

I guess I should have included that I am running a Windows 7 Home Premium system.

Maybe it is an Adobe thing. I've had to delete PSE 10 & 11 when I 'updated' to PSE 12 and both the previous versions were still installed and working.

If you are satisfied with the newest version (5.6) you can un-install the older versions, although I'd first do a backup to avoid any mix-ups:)!

No

To save space

I guess for safety. they want to make sure the new version is properly installed and running and the catalog converted, before the old version gets uninstalled.

Thanks, Dan. That is THE answer, I'm sure. I'll just use v5.6 and be happy. The other two are only wasting about 1.5 GB of disk space. I'll ignore them, for now.

Just tried the same thing on my laptop. I only ended up with version 4 and 5.6 on that one; a WIN8.1 HP G6. Go figure.

Uninstalled all but version 5.6 on both computers. The one version I have left works just fine. I don't notice any differences, yet.
