No. Again, I was in the store and what we were in was completely different. best buy does not do a drop ship. They have some in the district warehouse. But, once again on the inventory manager program, it shoes the sku as being deleted. Even though it's deleted you can still order what's left. Yes, it will be on the website still.

When I gave her the Sku, which was from the website, she looked it up this way and said, "this has been deleted from inventory and no one has it anymore. Let's see if I can still OMS it. Must be discontinued since only the warehouse has only a few left."

This is the normal procedure for things that are discontinued at best buy. And yes, a lot of people who can afford this lens will buy it from best buy since they price march, offer 18 mo interest free financing or 5% back in rewards. They also offer accident protection on these products and there are more best buys than other camera stores.

Maybe you're right and it will be discontinued completely at BB. No big deal, there are plenty of other stores who carry it.

So sorry I was providing information to people. I guess next time I won't.

To me if it's being discontinued / deleted from best buy they may be opt to sell it for a discount like they did for me.

I guess I shouldn't question as to why a company would do that.

I can't imagine why anyone would ever find out this 'information'.

I can't imagine why anyone would ever care about this information.

I really don't know anyone that buys high end lenses from BB unless there is some sort of very special sale or price mistake going on

well, best buy may not be around much longer any way ! its said they may be going out of biz and file for chapter by the end of next year because they can't keep up with places like amazon and other on line retailers ,witch is kind of sad because i just picked up one of there charge cards, but to the op question i would never pick up a lens at BB because theres other better places to get camera gear and the only other thing i can think of would be computers and hard drives, but even thats no steal with there prices.

They price match, so there is no issue with their pricing. And basically, using their credit card and getting a 3x bonus I'll be getting $280 back on this len plus the $100 rebate from Canon. Seems like a good place to buy to me.

I can see for you how it would be different since you live in NY and are only about an hour away from B&H. But Best buy in CO has never matched B&H or Adorama prices because they are not brick and morter stores here locally. Even if they did, I would still have to pay sales tax which is like $200 more on a 24-70 II. If I buy from B&H or Adorama, I don't have sales tax.

I guess in a way, living in NY is the best, and worse place to live, if you want to buy photo gear at least.

They match online retailers all the time like Amazon so they should match B&H easily. Like I said, they price matched Canon Price Watch for me. From my understanding, at this point they don't want to lose a sale so if they aren't losing money on an item they will price match it to a competitor.

And for all I know they match here too. I just haven't shopped there in a very long time. It still doesn't matter because they are still going to hit me with sales tax.
