Is there a way e.g. a reader that will allow me to view at least jpg's on a Smartphone? In my case a Samsung Note. If so I'd really appreciate a link.

Oct 12, 2014 18:55 | #3 Thanks but I'm not looking t operate/control the camera from the phone in this case, actually its for any camera. I want to pull the SD card out of the camera and view the pics on my smartphone. So I'm looking for a card reader that I can plug into the Samsung Note 2. flickr

Oct 12, 2014 20:08 | #4 What about the eyefi. It works pretty well. Just don't expect to be able to have the photos instantly after capture. It takes about 8-10secs to start transfer from a "cold" start. But once started a batch of eg. 5 photos can transfer in about 10 -15 secs. Although transfer times may vary depending on the size of the photo. I use the eyefi in my 1dsmkii with Raw+ Jpegs. Jpegs are about 3-4 MB in size

Oct 12, 2014 20:53 | #5 That's a thought Tacoman, thanks. No need to transfer though. Just want to view the days shots when I pile up in the hammock / tent or motel room. I'm beginning to think I'm the only person who thinks there is utility or merit in reviewing pics on the smartphone. flickr

I'll know in a couple of days. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I thought you were asking a software question. Yes, that adapter will work. The key phrase is the "OTG Host adapter". Should work fine.

Oct 13, 2014 23:53 | #13 The adapter arrived. Plugged it into the Note 2, took an SD card out of a 70D and moments later I was reviewing them on the phone. It's what I was after. the Note instantly saw the card/reader as an external device. I used Astro File Manager to open and view. flickr
