Romy got his hands on one. Not a lot to report yet, I hope he gets a chance to report back from this weekend.

This will be the first review/comments that I will place any faith in. Looking forward to what Romy will have to say about it.

He seems to be a member of dpr as liquidstone. He is putting its AF at least equal or better than 1D4 or 5D3. Canon going to stuck a gold with 7D2.

He is Liquidstone here as well.

His skill is evident in the shots posted, as always, but I am not seeing the detail I expect from his work. I am assuming nothing, it could be the quick or lack of editing, the website scaling etc...

I will be VERY interested in his review. I respect him completely.

On a fun note, here's his tour of the moon taken with his Canon gear;

Quote from the last blog post: "IMHO, the 7D Mark II is the best focusing DSLR (in terms of AF speed, focus accuracy and ease of use) I've shot at flying birds."

Music to my ears... really looking forward to seeing a more detailed update!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

It would be better if he provided 100% crops (for all shots), but let's not exaggerate too much here. It's a $12k piece of glass.

yes that could be worth seeing I think - and if this guy says its pretty good then it probably is - and ok its $12 k glass which incidently I would love to own and that makes a difference yes but cant really expect him to shoot with a $ 500 glass :rolleyes:

Should he have shot it with a 50mm f/1.8 to satisfy you nit pickers?

If I had access to any of the canon big whites to test out a pre-production camera, i'd grab the biggest most expensive one too

It would be nice to see a sample taken with a lens that the average person uses and can afford, to show what its capable of.

I think most care about the AF and high iso, more than whether consumer lenses work well. If those lenses do on the 70d, they will on the 7d2.

If we are talking about AF performance, we'd want to use a lens that won't slow it down to test the camera, as opposed to the lens. (or any other bottleneck)

If we are talking about image quality, " " ditto " ditto " etc..
