Romy,

My question is how has the workflow changed vs the original 7d? As in the processing technique.
I Know each body requires a different amount of NR and sharpening, etc. How does this one work?
Thank you.

I don't usually like the effect of "Unsharp Mask" in DPP when converting my 5D3, 1D4 or 7D RAW images.

With the 7D2, UM has become more useful, with better results for me compared to the "Sharpness" tool; i.e. more detail can be extracted with less noise.

Likewise, to retain more detail in 7D2 high ISO images, I can be less aggressive on luminance NR and be more heavy handed on Chrominance NR. There will be very fine noise remaining, but these are not unpleasant-looking.

Romy,
Can you get excellent, grain-free results in large prints without using any noise reduction? If so, what ISO would you consider to be the upper limit for such results (assuming there are dark, out-of-focus areas in the frame)?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I want to see this camera with say zoom lenses and TC, for example Canon 100-400 + 1.4x or even 2x, and also that zoom bare against a prime such as 400 5.6L with TC.

Thanks for those, Romy! Just confirms what I've been expecting from this body and someone that actually knows how to shoot with it; I'll definitely be picking one up.

miles,

Though this is hardly definitive, I talked to a very nice customer service rep at Canon US earlier this morning. She thinks there will be a good supply of the 7D Mk II on Black Friday but cautioned me of expecting any great sales, as the camera is still new.

Who knows? We might get lucky. I plan to have one in my hands before Christmas, maybe earlier, depending on when the next production run ends up at the dealers.
