i've been mesmerized by Patrick Hoelck's work.

can anyone break down what he does right in these portraits from a technical standpoint? i know a lot has to do with perfect lighting, but i'd like to know the specifics. how can one emulate such style?

Wow. I wish I could help. His work is amazing. The lighting is very intriguing.

look on the web on "low-key" photography. that's what his style is. alot of spot lighting as well. Also uses vignetting to his advantage.

so is this acheived with snoots and grids? I lvo ethe look as well. I would imagine it hides imperfections well.
