I have been trying to do a Brenizer image. Ryan Brenizer is a wedding photographer who invented this. It's basically a panorama but with a twist as you don't stitch horizontally but all around a subject. The result is an image that combines the best of a wide angle lens and a telephoto lens.

Here is a link for those interested: http://ryanbrenizer.com/category/brenizer-method/ (external link)

Now I did one once, on a Grey Heron, that turned out really great. But it kinda happened by accident. Now I wanted to shoot one and had great difficulty finding a subject and no idea of what lens to use as I don't have a portrait lens (85mm, 100mm, something like that) so yesterday's attempts weren't very good. Today I had some better results.

Bike #1 - Brenizer method. I stitched 30 or 40 shots together for this one which resulted in an image of over 20,000 pixels on the long end. So I could crop a lot. Which I did.

Bike #2 - a single shot from the sequence I used for the Brenizer image. It's unprocessed by the way. I just sharpened it a tad and resized.

Bench #1 - Brenizer image. Also a lot of shots stitched for this, resulting in a huge file. I think it shows very well how this method can do what no single lens can do in a single shot.

Bench #2: a single shot from the sequence I used for the Brenizer image

I bet people drop Rs where you live, because if that's a phonetic rendering, your shrub is probably cotoneaster.

:D Chances are! Just shows how much of a gardener I am. You are correct Oh, cotoneaster it is. I'm not sure that we drop Rs around here, but we probably drop pretty much everything else!

I've never tried that Brenizer method Levina...but you have inspired me to read up about it and have a try. That is a very impressive example you've made.

Sibil: Nice images, but I'm curious about the first on...what is it?

Here's a stack I tried this morning...flowers of a Karaka tree. They are tiny and were photographed at 1:1, with about 24 shots. Still not the greatest effort...but some progress in learning techniques.

Ricardo, that is an incredible shot.
My first shot is a close-up of rice krispy treats.

Thanks Sibil. Did those treats survive the shoot?

John_B: Interesting coloured sand...and a good DOF comparison.

They did since the shoot was right before dinner. :D
