6d's in camera movie editing, what am I doing wrong?

I was tried to trim some of the videos inside a 6d, following the instruction here:

I tried saving as a new file or overwriting the existing file. But resulting video is the same as the original video. Is there a step missing?

You know that with normal compression (not sure if the 6D has more than one version) you can only edit full seconds?
