I thought a new system of putting equal importance on all different makes and model of camera, was going to start on here?
The only change i see is that the Nikon section as been relegated to a lowwer league so to speak, or thrown in the basement where it isn't easily recognizable or find, i myself had to dig for it before i was able to link to it from my mail.

I don't understand what you are talking about. What's this you say about "equal importance", "nikon threads", and so forth. Perhaps you could explain this in more detail, and provide links to the discussions you are referring to.

New threads typically appear at the top of the section to which they are added. Whenever a new post to any thread, that thread then moves to the top and all other threads then move down one slot (with some rare exceptions, such as the Buy and Sell forums).

By the way, you could have done better with the placement of this thread that you started. It really has nothing to do with "General Photography". It is, rather, a forum issue, and you should have started this thread in the "Forum Talk" section of POTN.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

There should be an Other Brands subforum so the EOS Digital Cameras would have better signal to noise ratio

Don't expect changes in the structure of forums until the new platform is rolled out. Then expect lots of them!

Yeah, we old grouches don't do well with change. Will there be a "Classic POTN" section?

It's interesting, because the "Classic POTN" has allowed threads featuring different models, new stuff, and they have been pretty active, in fact to the extent that us Canon users tend to just ignore them and move on.

The newer AMASS software will offer "sub-forums" for other brands...making it easier for us Canon users to ignore and move on, fine!!!:)!!!

Hopefully we will see makes, models and brands sitting side by side sharing this friendly site and learning from each other, canon, nikon, pentax, minolta, sony, panasonic, etc etc.
I'm sure this site is large and accommodating enough for all.

Hmm, this "General Photography Talk" forum has allowed exactly that!

With the new forum software, those who have wanted forums dedicated to Nikon, Sony, Fuji and such will have their wish, but that's a whole different bunches of "wants", in fact it can be a bit irritating for us Canon users to be bombarded with such stuff. If I want to check out a Nikon sub-forum, hey, it will be here!!:)!!

At the end of the day so many camera makes are so similar these days abit like Formula One racing cars, you could almost imagine them being made in the same giant factory but with different production lines, i bet you both canon and nikon use the exact same materials for there plastics and metals, and probably the same electronics just labeled different.
I used to work in a similar environment where we made different products made with the exact same materials but with different brand names on them.

Hence why - canon-nikon etc etc are not that diss similar and share a lot of similarities.

Thats why it would be good to chat across boundaries and compare and discuss without any prejudice from any side, and continue to grow a big happy photo family of happy digi users....

it's a shame there are any Nikon camera forums on the internet
but when you live in a Canon world, that's just life

Umm...bit of a one sided comment that wasn't it?

This is meant as a compliment to the creator of this great site, i like many others of various camera makes prefer to use potn over any other sites, nothing else matches its style and ease of posting/displaying pictures, and if it becomes even more user friendly for all makes and models, then that can only be an improvement and way forward:)
