Hi all,
I'm in Sydney Australia and was doing some online hunting today for prices on the D5 and noticed that the 20D was listed as discontinued on the website of a well known seller in OZ, 'Camera House'. It stated that a new model would be coming feb 25th.

Interesting. Although it may be speculation on the resellers part.

That's strange though, as I doubt Canon would discontinue the 20D this soon. Perhaps, this particular store won't offer it anymore once the new one is out.

To add - I couldn't get onto Canon's web site. Too many people or are they updating things?

Yep your absolutely right. Since they are a major distributor I think they are likely to be in the know.

Cheers

I just read an article about the 20D. It said in the US and other countries that they would keep making the 20D. This was the quote from a Canon VP or marketing guy. Can't remember where I read it. I think however, when the inventory runs out that will be the end of the 20D. They might shuffle some inventory from other countries to the US and sell them for $200-250 lower than the new 30D.

Canon Quality Control? Is this Y they R dropping the 20D? ? ?
The first 20D I got from Canon, I had to return the next day. It would power down after some shots. It was tied into the main power button, if it got nudged, the unit would power down. Clearly a defect! Vistek, in Toronto swapped it out, no problem. Thanks Sheldon!

How ever my second 20D has suffered a CATASTROPHIC Err99! No matter what I have done, after the shutter is release, it goes into Err99 mode. Only way to get out, is to power down. Opening the CF door is sufficient!

I have 2 new lens bought at the same time.
Used both lenses, swapped out the batteries, used no lens, let the unit power right down with the back up battery, and removed. Had to re set the date & time, still no good.

Help, Think I will trade it in for a 30D

What is Canon doing WRONG?

30D
17 > 85MM USM IS
70 > 300MM USM IS

10D (Back up) <- This is essential...

Lovin' that IS!!!
