DIY Softbox and 1st Shot

I built a couple of softboxes for flash units yesterday and if the image upload works, here is the result. One softbox on camera, no bracket, and the other as a background light. Still playing with it, so comments please. The softboxes were made from lampshades I got at JoAnns Fabric for 9.00 ea. Used RipStock nylon as a diffuser, and used cardbord on the small end for the flash to fire thru. I think the results will be good when I learn how to use them.. The size is 6.5" tall, 9" rectangle opening on one end and 4'5" on the other.

OK, lets try this again. The images shoud show up

not very soft. I think maybe you could put some batting inside to further diffuse the light... but truthfully what I see here shows up as hard light.

ditto, but the good thing about these projects is uve never got enough invested to have a total loss, and u can always work to make them better. gettin started is the hard part. keep us posted!
