My poor attempt at capturing the Andromeda Galaxy with my 70-200 at 200mm. I took this at Mono Lake.

Thanks Gutterscum! No stacking. It's one frame. I did take 14 shots and 6 darkto stack but turned out I had forgot to focus the 14 frames :o  I will try again the next time I'm in a very dark place.

I think it will make a great photo. I'm going to dash out and try this when the moon is gone as well as the clouds......you have inspired me to get out there again.

Well done
I'm yet to get a shot of it. Too low on my horizon. From back yard.

Thanks Peter! I'm planning with a friend to shoot the night sky in a few weeks. I hope Long Island will be dark enough.

Only places like Robert Moses beach, on a good night, you can see the Milky way with the naked eye. Or somewhere out east. The majority of the island is too light polluted.

Thanks for the heads up Joe! Another spot I was thinking is Bear Mountain. This trip out west has got me hooked on the night sky and the Milky Way
