You've not used IS on a telephoto much...
It's really nothing short of amazing how much it has helped my own photography. Keeper ratio is up.. way up and more importantly all those keepers are sharper.
I use it all day long,.. in plenty of light, on moving subjects, on a tripod and off. It helps a lot.
