Thinking about switching to full frame, what is the widest angle lens for full frame?

I love my Sigma 8-16mm on my 60d, but I am thinking of buying the 6d. I am worried I won't be able to get as wide of a lens for the full frame though (somewhere around 12-13mm). Is the Sigma 12-20mm the best option? I'm not looking for a fisheye either

The sigma 12-24mm is the widest non-fish eye lens for full frame.

Sigma 12-20 is a crop-frame lens. The 12-24 is made for FF, and costs 2x the price of the 12-20.

Yep, 12-24.

Keep in mind 14mm, or 16/17mm is VERY WIDE on a full frame!

The 10mm zooms give an APS-C sensor the field of view of 16mm on full frame.

12-24mm is basically the FF equivalent of your 8-16mm...although i don't think it's as good...right now it's really the only option, aside from mounting a 1.4XTC on your 8-16mm...there is a rumor of an 11-24mm from canon...but it's just a rumor for now

well...there's no 12-20mm so it was probably a typo...

I have the 15mm fisheye 180º diagonal, ok it's a fisheye ...
I have also the 16-35mm, at 16mm it's already "freaking" wide on FF ;)

So yep no worries, you can go with the 12-24 it's hugely wide ;)

Series of images taken with 5D2, Sigma 8-16 and Kenko 1.4X TC.
Top left: set at 9mm, effectively 12.6mm
Top right: set at 10mm, effectively 14mm
Bottom left: set at 11mm, effectively 15.4mm
Bottom Right: set at 12mm, effectively 16.8mm

Note decreasing vignetting as the setting is increased. No corrections applied. I find the 9mm shot usable with correction in post processing. I wouldn't suggest buying this combination from scratch; however, in my case, I had the Sigma left over from my DSLR crop sensor "days" after I sold my 7D and got a 5D2, so it was a cost effective way to get down to about 12mm on a FF.

The room shown is about 10 feet wide, and the camera was about 13 feet from the far wall.

Awesome, thanks everybody! And yeah I meant 12-24mm, there is a 10-20mm but that one is for crop sensors.

Maxdave- Thanks for the images!! I have the 8-16mm on my 60d right now and I love it. Since it's a 1.6 crop that equals 12.8mm on a full frame so I was really looking for a lens in the 12-.... area. But now that I know I can use the 8-16mm w/ the TC I may just go that route, at least for a little while. I really do enjoy taking pics w/ the 8-16mm and didn't want to lose that WIDE angle when I switch to FF.

That one is out of my price range at the moment, and I don't see myself using it to the max of it's abilities to justify the price.

There're rumors about Canon being close to releasing an 11-24mm f/2.8 lens.

If the 11-24mm even came out it would be out of the price range though

I would recomend you either get a Rokinon/Samyang 14mm or a 17-40L if you switch to FF. Both cheap and both wide. Sure the 17mm is not 12.8mm but its still mighty wide
