Another Lone Star Le Mans at COTA

I'd have loved to have actual track access, but I was pretty surprised to see how many places there were that I could shoot from. I was using 70-200 on a 5D III.

I kept shooting in the downpour, and my camera went wonky (weather sealing MY BIG TOE!) for a couple of hours, and finally simply quit working shortly after racing resumed...So I didn't get many night shots like some folks were getting. I really want to go back just for that. I loved what I got.

So, what did you do about the wet camera? Did it just kind of wake up after it was dry enough or?

Nice work. As an owner of two 5D MKiii and was shooting credentialed I can tell you that your camera is most definitely weather sealed... however if you shot with no rain gear even a 1Dx would have started not working. It was a downpour.

Thanks! Always nice to hear that from somebody that actually does this, and produces the quality work that you do. I'm going to try to make it down again this year. I might bring a longer lens though. My 70-200 did pretty good for the most part, but a longer lens would have been nice. Vantage points for a GWAC like me are everywhere. Not as good as track access, but eh. I'll take it!


And yeah, that was a lot of rain! I know it is weather sealed, and that that doesn't mean I can go SCUBA diving with it I (obviously) didn't make enough of an effort to keep it somewhat protected.

I have so many great pictures from that day. I was just scrolling through them...Hundreds of keepers. Jeez. I can't imagine how you guys cull that many that fast.
