The sun and moon made extra curves today.

1. Hold vegetable steamer between sun and side of big planter box. Operate camera with other hand, keeping shadow of camera and arm out of the picture. This was considerably before the maximum occlusion.

2. Find wall with tree shadow on it. Take picture. This was within a few minutes of maximum.

Thanks! By the time I got the second shot, a filmy cloud layer covered the sun. The shapes would have been clearer without it.

NIce curves Tim. Are you still a ham radio operator?

Great "eclipse" of the planter box Oh.

Yes - mostly active on the CubeSats these days, however I do fire up the Johnson on occasion on 80 meters. It only puts out 25 watts, but I've "talked" to hams in New Zealand, Australia, Japan and other Pacific Rim countries with it.

From the first moment I saw the new theme, curves, all I could think of was the human body. Strangely enough none of my friends wanted to sit in the nude for me, so I used my little dolly (2 inches tall) that I pulled out of a grabbing machine long long ago (you've seen her before in a previous theme). She is very plastic-y looking and she looked better in B&W. I thought it would be cool to back light her. Oh well...

XXX

I also thought feet have some nice curves. So here are mine:

Levina, nice curves and lighting in both shots. Don't let the folks in the thread about shooting strangers' children see that first one. They have such predictable imaginations.

Nice curves Levina. Back lighting something that small must have been a bit of a challenge.

OhLook, predictable wasn't one of the words my wife said when I suggested she would be a good curves subject.

^^^^
The thought occured to me, but I knew better not to even bring it up. So the idea died within a second. Driving down to the beach with a long lens was another idea. But, nah, I would most likely get punched by someone. :D

That occurred to me too, Sibil, and common sense won for me as well!

Levina, I love both of those shots. I have to say that your feet are much more elegant than mine!

Today I was able to let go of work and look around me...and came up with a few curves. Here are two...one, man-made, from our hall table and the other, natural, from our walk.

Some more from tonight...not many straight lines in nature...but plenty of curves!

My heart is pounding. I got woken up by one of my kids that the older sibiling is stuck outside in her car as there is yet another bear visiting us. I went out, with camera in hand, to find my self within 10 feet of this one. As I snaped a pic, the bear growled and took a an attacking position. Well crap, I quickly exchanged the camera with a stick and started yelling. Luckily the bear walked away. The closest encounter yet, and the third in one week.
