I roughly estimate there was 5000 in just the field I was shooting at. With more fields with geese in them, however inaccessible.

Just a small section of the whole flock.

Here's a link to the whole flock. I can't get it to point to the large size. I panoramic stitched 20 shots together. Making a file 45'000 pixels wide. Which is how I got the 5000 number. I counted groups of 50, then colored them with PS paintbrush, leaving me with 100 groups of 50 birds. Counting the back rows was very difficult, So the 5000# is just an estimate.

I have to link to it because it is larger than 1024px (it's 5000px)
Anyhoo, here's the link to a panoramic view of the whole flock.

Very nice. I love the first shot, those group flight shots always fascinate me!

Cracking series Trevor. I can see the first being made into a particularly frustrating jigsaw!

My Dad would have told you "Just count the wings and divide by two!" Very nice series, Trevor. Hope you got out of there "unsoiled" We have, on several occasions, seen HUGE flocks high overhead and in fields heading west from Memphis on I40. This has been in Jan.

Very nice Trevor, I had a flock fly over while shooting Moose this year, They have the strangest sound as they come into view and pass-by, but I have never been in the mix on the ground, .....Great stuff

Lol, yes. They didn't go overhead, but I was worried when they all flew up.

Fantastic set Trevor, kinda hard to pick any one over another but the first one is real cool and the detail in 2,3 and five is impressive. Shots like those are really not easy to get and turn out so well between exposure and speed.
Grand set indeed.

It must be an awesome sight to be amongst that many birds at one time Trevor.
Impressive job on the exposure of these white birds and on the IF tracking. I really like the triumvirate in the 3rd and the duo in the 6th images. Both extremely nice "group" shots. I also love the flaps down and feathers flying in the last. Very nicely done!
