Hey, I had been wanting to purchase a DVI cable for my 19" flat panel for a while now, and I figured it might improve image quality for editing as well. Well, not I get these weird flashing pixels when I open pictures. It doesnt really affect the picture quality, but it is rather annoying. Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks!

I run my Samsung 19" LCD from an nVidia card with a DVI cable, i've never seen anything flash that shouldn't.

Flashing pixels is abnormal. You could try reversing the cable (just in case one of the connectors doesn't make well one way round) or - more likely to be the issue - updating your graphics card drivers.

It may be that the DVI part of either your graphics card or monitor is bad.

Thanks for the input. I have an NVIDIA card as well. I updated the drivers and it seemed to help for a while, but then the problem came back. I just decided to use a standard VGA cable instead because I tried that and it works fine.
One question though...in the process of editing photos on an LCD screen, am I losing out by using the analog cable?

Something is wrong if you can't get DVI to work - I have a DVI connected panel to an nVidia card and it's rock steady.

You are lowering the performance of the screen somewhat by using a VGA cable - you may find there is some noise and bleed between pixels that DVI would avoid.

I'd try exchanging the cable - it's just possible that it's faulty somehow.
