Thanks.
Yes HDR in astrophotography is proven its place and I have seen very many fantastic images made that way but no, I was too tired. This is far after midnight local time and after a long drive to location so I was too tried despite very good night, also couldn't stay too long due to same, later day other engagements. Just hoping for the next weekend that should be a good one too. On the second thought, I definitely have more different exposure from this last night shooting session and actually might look to see if can yield anything better in the way of HDR. If positive, will post more here.

It's rising here now at 11pm. Looking fwd to summer when it's up by 830.
I want to do WF on the whole area with the flame, horse head and Orion nebula. But it will take HDR to get it all looking even.
Come to Aus. Adelaide any time.
I'm hoping to vist KSC in 2016 to see SLS launch. Since I missed a Shuttle launch

OK here is a HDR from last night/early morning.

IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/p3KWF4 (external link) Orion Nov 2014 (external link) by 4Sassan (external link), on Flickr

And crop of the same image:

But then there is something fishy here, right by the Orion.

This was a simple one.
Only 2 images.
You surely should look into more images for better result.
I am away from my desk and my current laptop only has limited software on it.
So only used PS to make the HDR as I don't have Photomatix and photoshop wont stand to the dedicated softwares in this regard.

Here is the small version of the originals:

Some fresh Winter Orion from last night:
Minimally/Moderately light polluted sky with a forming gibbous moon.

And here is the Flame Nebula with a ghost of Horse Head.

If you wait till M42 is higher in the sky (at least for me) I can greatly reduce light pollution problem.
2 nice shots there

Samisen you have some good data there, processing is always tough. I highly recommend the tony hallas method of pre editing white balances before stacking, look on you tube for a tony hallas astrophotography tutorial. I used to doubt it but started to try it today and let me tell you I spent all night re editing a ton of images, talk about a milestone. I regards to HDR tone mapping, this video by Kenneth Crawford explains the power of editing in 32bit before converting to 16 bit. http://vimeo.com/53343249 (external link) these two videos will help you out a lot with this difficult dso. You are doing great so far. My first orion image was completely un recognize able lol.

Peter:
Orion is quit high in our sky these days, a I believe it is actually the time to lose altitude as we have crossed the winter equinox.

Ron:
No nothing that I might have done intentionally in pp except whatever DSS has done while stacking.

Wes:
I think that is the exact explanation. Will look into that in detail and thanks for sharing info. BTW how is the surgery going on in formation of that FD hybrid astro lens? This is another go on Orion with a quick pp, form this weekend (After getting tired of chasing Lovejoy), before the massive attach of clouds and cold weather.
