I don't like things to get scratched. Are the screens scratch resistant? It can't hurt right?

I carry two bodies at my side with a Black Rapid for events and weddings and such and nothing is scratched. I see no need for screen protectors.

Thats something i was wondering already in past. Im very careful with my cameras and i dont think i wouldscratch the lcd so easy. But i can imagine with those straps, letting hang 2 bodies with certainly heavy lenses down your shoulders it can easily happen i think.

Canon have spent a lot of money making the rear screen on the 1DX as good as they can - why would you want to spoil it?
A screen protector will prevent the occasional scratch but it will degrade the view 100% of the time.

I wear a diamond engagement ring and it tends to scratch things...I scratched the hell out of my first iphone before I realized i needed to protect the screen...so when I bought my 7D I stuck one on there as well. Just never really thought twice about it.

Diamonds will do that. They're pretty much the hardest natural substance around (10 on the Mohs scale). But that means they'll go right through a "screen protector" as they scratch your display.

I never had issues once I started using zagg xtreme shield on my phones. When I upgrade I peel off the screen protector and the case and it looks brand new.

I use Clarivue on my 5D3. No glue, excellent persistent clarity.

Sorry I didn't think of that!

Personally I wouldn't bother on my DSLRs simple because a replacement screen(well cover) is inexpensive and I can change it myself. If was to use I'd definitely want to go with a tempered glass one.

My smartphone on the other hand I always use them since it's much more likely to get scratched or cracked(I'm more worried about cracking) and it cost a lot to replace. I currently use tempered glass and love the look and feel but I still think the wet mount ones are best for protection plus they don't crack them selves.

I really love the zagg xtreme shield for iphones...the normal ones always peeled at the edges when you put a case on...the xtreme fits perfect and never needs to be replaces since it never peels.

I never really thought about being able to replace the actual screen and it being cheap. With that info I think I probably could skip the cover. I tend to not wear my ring when I go out shooting...so that's not really a huge issue.

As far as I know, on the 5D3 the screen top cover can't be replaced separately, as was the case with previous models. The top cover is now bonded to the layer beneath it, so as to eliminate the air gap.

I'd be surprised if the 1Dx didn't have this performance upgrade.
