Much excitement has occurred since I posted on FB that I found this bird at my local reserve (Adel Dams).

The UK's rarest woodpecker & one hasn't been seen at Adel since 2000.

Very nicely found and captured Richard!
It's always neat to document rarities and you've done it in fine fashion. I'm sure it's exciting to set the local birders to buzzing!
Not to take away from this significance of this capture, the overall image would shine more with a little noise reduction.

Thanks Steve. TBH the light wasn't fantastic on Saturday & I only managed a few frames. The image posted is a very, very heavy crop of the original, so I'm not really surprised there's some noise.

Thanks for the comments, although having seen Kevin's "record" shots I need to go back this weekend & try & improve on my attempts :-)
