7D mk II image quality RAW worse than 7D for now

I've only been able to test it in lower light indoors so far.

But the auto 65 pt AF was tracking better than other modes in some cases, which is kinda crazy. It was locking into my GFs dogs eye, which is dark, on a brown dog, up against a glass window. I moved the viewfinder low, so only the top points could grab focus on the head/eye yet, and it stuck.

But I mainly shoot wildlife, so we will see how it handles this weekend.

That looks really good for ISO 12800. I downloaded your file from Flickr and that looks really nice. It cleans up with little effort. This is very encouraging!

See to be fair, as an arty shot the noise is not taking anything away from that PS4 controller. At 12800ISO I'd say it was a winner already if that's what you're getting in low light. Imagine the shutter speeds you'd be able to use in sports in low light. Crikey

1. Which AF case did you use and why?
2. Which AF focus area did you use?
3. Which picture style did you use?
4. Have any samples to show, yet?

Only way, right now, is to open in DPP, convert and save to TIFF and then import the TIFFs to LR. Hopefully it won't take too long for Adobe to catch up to the release and get support for the MkII into ACR/PS/LR.

I dont understand the obsession with ISO and the 7Dii, if you really want HIGH ISO performance the 6D and the A7s are out there. Even before the Nintendo (maybe its an XBox) controller pics were posted at 12,800 I was relaxed with the potential 7Dii ISO performance; at this point it isn't a care or worry.

I guess its because birders and action shooters using the big slow super zooms from Tamron and Sigma have a bit more leeway in regards to better ISO performance allowing a faster shutter speed with less of a horrible result. And we get to have a much better action camera than the 6D could ever be.

Birds and animals don't always hang out in the best of light, so we wind up shooting in dimmer conditions more often than we'd like. So, having better high ISO performance while not sacrificing the pixels on target benefit of using a crop body is something we are very interested in.
