So last night they had the ceremony for WPotY and revealed this year's winners.

After last year's slightly Marmite image of slow-exposure Elephants at night, this year it was won by something a bit less quirky: a pack of snoozing lions in black&white (Michael ‘Nick’ Nichols) (external link). The public vote went to a a monkey holding a phone (Marsel van Oosen) (external link). As always it's a very diverse selection of quality images, so I've barely started to digest them, but an early standout is David Lloyd's leopard in a tree (external link).

Anyone else been browsing them and have any comments?

Numenorean,

That doesn't seem like too much to ask. ;)

That website is an absolute nightmare. I have just spent twenty minutes trying to navigate through their ridiculous gallery presentation, which was bearable up until the images stopped loading and started presenting me with black screens, at which point I gave up.

It's a shame as they look really good from the thumbnail images.

Much simpler to just scroll through them in this DPReview article:

Thanks for the link!

That has the added benefit of the DPReview comments section for added entertainment!

If I am thinking correctly , Nick Nichols is a National Geographic photographer who has been one of the best for the last 20 years.
Therefore I am not surprised of his winning entry.

Yep, that's Michael "Nick" Nichols. He's done many famous NatGeo images including the famous one of the chimp touch strands of hair on Jane Goodall.
