The gulls were shot at between f3.2 and f3.5, and the slower moving birds on the water at between f4 and f5. I really enjoy this lens, but I really need to try shooting people with it now! May try to gate crash a few weddings in a suite etc lol

Cool swan shot. The water looks almost like a 3D rendering.

Nice detail but a hair oversharpened. (And I thought my boy had ridiculous eyelashes-- those are curling over on themselves!)

Oh yea and with your previous shot up above, it is a really nice portrait but you need to learn the "Dad Bath" technique and use it before you shoot. It involves a warm, wet cloth and a quick wipedown of the face :D

Oh, I realized after seeing a few more kids in your posts that they probably aren't all yours :D I dunno about not offering a warm cloth for a wipedown -- I think the mom's might appreciate the results in the photos. I'm sure there is a tactful way to do it without implying that their kid is dirty. I wasn't sure if that was dry skin or maybe dried milk spray..

Fun in the snow! They were moving pretty fast but it was a very bright day so had shutter at 1/1250, f2.8.

nice shot, but i think a shutter drag would have given the shot the feeling of "moving fast"

Really? You shoot the 1.8 version?

You value money and focus speed over glorious bokeh :D :D I'm surprised from your excellent work with the 35L.

Heh thanks Hoff.

Truth be told, if I had the $ I'd most likely grab the L. I don't shoot enough with my 1.8 as is. It is sharp and fast though.
