That shot was taken with my newly acquired(for $300:-D) 85 f/1.8!

Canon 30d
ISO-100
F:Stop: f/1.8
SS: 1/800 sec

And some more from this lens...I have a few portrait gigs coming up this month so I can really use this awesome piece of glass.

You'll be amazed what the lens can do!
But can I advise you? though it is pure fun to shoot portrait in f/1.8, and this is what I did a lot once i got the lens, but I think the lens 85mm starts to be really delicious at f/2.2 -2.8...

Great pictures, by the way...

Yeap, EX580 II. I had to use "H" mode with shutter speed at 1/1000, and I think it was dialed down to -1 or -2/3

I had to use this lens when my hired lens for the evening stopped working :( ended up with a whole series of portrait shots mid fight, superb lens!

Yea I understand the sweet spot isnt nessasarily at f/1.8. However, I had just got it, and I wanted to see what 1.8 at that focal length would be like.

For example, an assignment for the paper this week was to get an image of a university worker that had a booth up for Domestic Violence Prevention or something like that.
Here it is at f/4.5

It is a good lens for kids. It is one of the faster focusing lenses in the entire Canon lineup even though it isn't an L.
