OK, i was reading/worry about the purple fringing problem, but I pulled the trigger anyway.
I hope it's NOT too long (7d) for my needs.
I hate this forums... (you know what i mean)... :)

i just upgraded to 7d, and it eats cf space even more than my 50D.
and like you i only have one 8gb and one 4gb, for an all day event, i carry my laptop around to dump it out.
All this for the name of RAW... worth it thoguh... i can't go back to jpeg.

You'll love it. It's great on a 7D and when you expose properly, purple fringing isn't an issue.

Enjoy it when you get it.

I've never heard about how exposing a photo properly will alleviate chromatic aberration or not exposing it properly will make it worse. I always thought it was caused when there is a very abrupt change in contrast and there wasn't much that could be done other then stopping the lens down or just fix in PP. Care to explain?

Nick

Nick,

I don't engineer lenses for a living, so can only go on what I see. Other things that seem to increase the likelihood that the purple finging shows up is the light source, cycling of the lights and as you mentioned, the really high contrast areas like black piping on white basketball uniforms. Here are two examples of the same uniforms with and without the purple fringing.

Shot with a bit of purple fringing - and for some reason, I don't have big issues with my copy, but you can see the spots on the black piping at stomach/hip areas where the light isn't consistent that it shows up.

Good CA shot - same uniforms same gym, better lit spot on the floor and a perfect exposure.

IMAGE: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a310/dsnyder160/DPP_2046436.jpg

After rethinking my own shots and shooting conditions, its probably more about the evenness and consistency of lighting that causes the CA more than the exposure. I probably misspoke.
