And then to push it I put a Kenko 20mm extention tube behind the 85m f1.8 and shot this test. And lately I've been doing a self assignment, only using my 85mm f1.8 for a couple of days. I find that I'm always using my 24-70 f2.8L and nothing else. The assignment is to completely learn how to use this lens like I know how to use my 24-70L. Why spend the more on a lens if you're not going to shoot it right? And then there's this one I shot yesterday. I don't know if you could get this any sharper while hand held. I had 32mm of ETs behind the lens. This was shot at f6.3, but with 20mm of ET behind the lens and being that close to the subject, things in the BG go soft real fast. And this lens already has wonderful bokeh! Chas Gordon

It does nice macro, but what it does best for me is be a handy, relatively small walk-around lens that allows for some very sharp photos, and some pretty cool low-light shots. I love Canon!

I see you did the "gawd awful noise, i'll make it B&W, trick ![]() It works. B&W is my go-to when I have to shoot at ISO 3200. Shots are never as crisp and have much more noise than lower ISO's, so I just crank up the sharpness and contrast and convert to B&W. It's the only way to save those shots. -Chris (also formally known as "imtrashed" if searching feedback thread)

You got the shot...all that matters. Besides, I think it looks great B&W.
