Took my 85 with me today just driving around with the wife. Took 27 pics - nothing very special (except the usual quality of the 85). But... we were eating lunch at the Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar and it came into my mind to shoot some little water wind-ripples through the window. Shot 1 was in the sun and shot 2 was in the shade under a dock. I was shocked. I did some minor PP, but didn't add any effects. I think I was shooting at my regular basketball setting Tv, 1/800, ISO 1600. edit: Yah, checked exif; focal was f/5.0 (click to enlarge)

looks good but why the need for iso 1600? if it was sunny out with a prime that is just generating unnecessary noise

I'm a newbie, and I wasn't on assignment - I just didn't change the settings.

First take on fashion shots, with my beloved 50D (5D Mark II was out of town):

@Katalyst - nicely done:)
- hows the 85mm on your 50d? I have a 50d as well and have been going back and worth between the 50 1.4 or the 85mm. I currently have a sigma 30mm.

Pleasure to meet you, everyone! :)
One of the first shot I took with the 85.

Sorry for the noise and a little purple fringes, this is just a test shot and I love it. :)

@itsmejson: If you already have the 10-22 and 30, the 85 will complement the setup perfectly. :)

Cheers! :D

Thank you!
Especially when it comes of a FF camera the 85 on my 50D seems exceptionally long, I really prefer it on a full frame but it's really good on a crop too! I don't have the 50 1.4 but a friend of mine does, and I prefer the build quality of the 85 1.8... For portraits like these I like the 85, I've done some full portraits with her too (seen below) which I found awkward with a lens that behaves as long as it does, your choice! :D
