Fair enough. Cool image though! The ant is hanging on by a thread.

I was chasing her down with manual focus, I was just about bottomed out on the focus ring when I snapped this. I'm excited to do some portraits with this lens with some of the family children.

Nice shot Viper, i really like the bokeh on this lens - it's far better than the canon 50mm f1.4 imo.

Just got it out of the box, I think I may have given this ant a close shave with the razor thin DOF.

I have the 50mm 1.4. Should I get this lens as well? or should I get a 28 or 35mm?
I shoot with a 5D m2. What I really want is the 100mm Macro, but not sure if that one is good for portraits.

I have most of the lens you have. You'll love the 85mm

The 85 is kind of close to the 50 if you are looking for versatility. But its a much better portrait lens on full frame. The 100 macro is a good portrait lens too, just slower to focus if that makes a difference to you.

Thanks for input guys. I think I'll get the 85mm within a month or so and wait on the 100mm macro. I tend to shoot more portraits at the moment, but would like to extend my range to shooting macros as well.

You have a 5d mark ii... I had a mark ii formerly. The 85 1.8 is better at AF than the 50 1.4, so it may help you with sports. It's VERY fast, smooth, and quiet. Complete opposite eh?

for portraits, they are both good. you may like the reach of the 85mm more, gives your subject some breathing room.
