It's when I see portraits like these, it confirms that I don't need an 85L, the 1.8 is lighter, faster and capable enough for my needs. SAM Head shot of Sam, she's a friend of mine, and I was bored at work so I wanted to play with my 85 xD This is just raw, no sharpening, no post processing, just wanted to show off how great the lens performs even out of the box. Set up was: 3 Alienbee B800's 1: as the hair light 1: fill on the left side about three feet away from her at 1/16 power 1: main a little to the right of her, and power was between 1/16 and 1/8. Triggered by Pocketwizard Plus II Camera settings: Shutter: 1/160 Aperture: F/8 ISO: 320 |Gear list// 500PX

The body together with the lens only costed me $530, a superb value combination. Carrot ![]() Tolly ![]() WOW . Nice. A good job showing talent is more important than a new camera. How is that 5dIII at tracking him? I hate having to use center point only for tracking my son. Its rather limiting when it comes to composition. I edited one of your pics a bit, hope you dont mind! idsurfer Cream of the Crop More info | Sep 20, 2012 21:01 | #8684 ^^Thanks for the comments Shane!!^^ Looks like you lightened it up a titch. Looks good. As far as the mk3 goes, the AF is out of this world. I kind have been feeling down a bit that I pulled the trigger early on this one and paid FULL price when it came out, but seriously, I have soooo many great shots from this summer that I would never have been able to get with the mk2. It has been worth every cent. Being able to use all 41 cross-type AF points in servo mode lets you really just concentrate on composition and have fun with it. It really does well with the 85 1.8 also!! Cory
