I am considering this lens for my 5D, use will be for street, people and portrait type shots. However I am also looking at the 50 1.4, for those who have used both do you feel the 85 is a better choice for the use noted?

There shouldent even be a consideration between then 85 USM and the nifty fifty.. you know wich one is the best out of the two.
Don't forget to post pictures once you bought it :)

50 1.4 is a bit softer and really doesent become sharp before 2.8 and obviously it has wider fov.
I got them both.. and imo the 85 is better.

I sold my Canon 50mm 1.4 for the Sigma copy.
Kept my 85mm. In love with it again.
