Spent October 17-18, 2014 at Flat Rock Ranch in Comfort, TX photographing the Ragnar Trail Relay

After my shift was over, I went out to some areas I scouted during the day to shoot the milky way...This being my 2nd attempt, I'm very pleased with this image

Canon 5D3
Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC
10sec f2.8 ISO 6400 24mm
Post in LR5

Tree and grass exposed with a pilot flash from my 580exII

Anything over about 13sec left me slight star trails...focusing was difficult from the darkness & constant worry of snakes and large ants, I feel a 7"+ tablet would have helped get those stars super sharp

I like the #2 & #3 image in that order . Too much LP in the first image . The silhouette tho is great . Not often that you see B&W night shots like yours , the way you have PP'd it has kept the LP down tremendously and looks nice for a change .
