Can you recommend a good overall affordable 60" umbrella

white? black backing? parabolic?

can you include some photos of finished shots?

What sort of flash are you firing into it? The PLM system from Paul c Buff is a great system.

I have 2 canon 580ex's and will have a yongnuo 568exii tomorrow.

I have three 622c triggers and just ordered a 622c TX

I have a few 42" umbrellas and 2 24x24" lastolight soft boxes

I'd like to get at least a 60" and I'm also looking for a reasonable priced twin and triple speed light bracket

Ty for the relies so far

I heard from some others about the Paul buff systems, any photos to show?

The best choice would be the Photek Softlighter II (external link): well built, and it can convert to shoot-through.

The Impact looks like an acceptable second choice. You'd want to avoid umbrellas that use a screw-in plastic button to convert from reflective to shoot-through: it's very easy to lose said button and some, like those from Photoflex, tend to unravel.

As to whether to use a normal umbrella or a parabolic, well, that depends on your intended use. Parabolics collimate the light, so they're more useful for portraiture; 'normal' brollies, on the other hand are more useful to illuminate large areas as they spread the light.

'The success of the second-rate is deplorable in itself; but it is more deplorable in that it very often obscures the genuine masterpiece. If the crowd runs after the false, it must neglect the true.' —Arthur Machen
