Is the kit 7d2/24-70 really worth it?

I was wondering if that kit with the 24-70 really worth it.
I own the 24-105, so any difference in IQ....?
The way I see it is that there will be a ton of those lens invading craiglist and ebay.

Any toughts on this ?

I feel that people are going to purchase the kit to sell the lens, just like the 6d/5d3 and 24-105 kit. The lens is nothing special (well for people who need the faster aperture).

The 24-70 f4 IS was originally $1500, although it was overpriced. I jumped on one for $999 when Canon reduced the price. I prefer it over the 24-105. At $800 for a refurb or white box, it is an outstanding deal. At $400 for a kit, it is a steal, although I don't know why it is bundled with a 7D crop body. It wouldn't be my first choice for a 7D, although it makes great sense as kit lens for a 6D.

Why would it be a better lens for a full frame instead of a crop?
Yes it is a good deal, but since i own a 24-105 i hesitate to get the bundle.
If it was a 2.8 that would be great hahaha

These lenses are so expensive, my favorite one is my 70-200 f4, it does outstanding images compare to any of my other lenses.

As a general rule, if you can get a kit lens for less than the used street value, buy it. Thing is I don't know what the current street value of the. 24-70/4 is so I would do more research there

If you can sell the 24-70/4 for more than the kit price, then you can try them out and see if you like the 24-105 or 24-70/4 more and sell the other. If you still like the reach of the 24-105 more, then you have lost nothing by trying them both out.

Personally I think I must have a really good copy of the 24-105 so I have little interest in the 24-70/4. I'm not about to put money into that upgrade when I would rather put the money into a 24-70/2.8 II or in another place.

The kit lens coming with my 7D2 is the 18-135mm IS STM Lens. Based on amazon.com prices I'll be getting a $549.00 lens for $350.00.

My 17-55 IS is broken and I'll be sending that lens in for repair when my wallet has recovered a bit from the purchase of the new camera. From the reviews I think this will be a capable substitute and maybe a replacement when shooting outdoors in good light.

I have NO experience shooting video with a DSLR and the 18-135mm IS STM Lens seems to have been built with video in mind.

Very worth it if you got a piece of the Canadian kit, only US$ 300 for the lens...

Its range is more suited to serve as a general purpose lens on a full frame. On a full frame it goes from wide angle to short telephoto. On a crop its basically a normal to short telephoto. The quality doesnt change but its purpose does. If you are happy with your walkaround lens starting at the ff equivalent of 38 then it would work for you.

Yep, i live in Montréal, so the kit is a 24-70
They say its a bargain of $900 plus a bundle of $250 , might be a bag, extra battery and memory card.

Might grab it......if i can return it, i would keep everything not opened and scealed....and wait for better reviews on IQ.
$2300 plus tax is a lot these days, even if i have the dough

Odd lens with a crop. Buy it, though. I'll give you $500 for it.

Well the only lens that i see woulf be best for a apsc, would be a 17-40, is that correct?
If i could sell the lens here, i would do it, not sure there will be a lot of offers.

No. The 17-40 is a fine lens but fails in comparison to the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS. The 17-55 is faster, has IS, and more range. Its designed to do on a crop body what the 24-70/24-105 does for full frame. The 17-40 is better suited as sn ultrawide on a full frame camera.

Does Canon put together different kit packaging like this? It would be nice if the 24-70 was just separately bundled with a retail body package. But yea, I signed up for that preorder so I can just sell the 24-70 f4 IS.

If you can get it in a kit or bundle at a greatly reduced price, I would definitely buy it and sell it if you don't like it. There are plenty of full frame owners that will be interested in this lens, so you should be able to make a profit if you decided to sell it.

If the range works for you on the 7D, it really is a nice lens. It has excellent build (as an L lens should), a bit smaller/lighter than the 24-105 with better IQ. The macro feature is also pretty good as well.

I've not seen the 24-70 bundled with the 7D2 anywhere in the USA .. only in Canada? Had it been available, I'd have bought it... but have no interest in the 18-135 ... so just bought the 7D2 body.
