Is the kit 7d2/24-70 really worth it?

I thought about ordering the kit through Canon Canada but decided I'd rather have the 24-105mm for its added versatility. Great deal though. I wonder why only Canada?

Yes, wondered that myself - as I have no use for the 18-135, and already have the 24-105 -- so, that 24-70 deal, would have snapped that up. Matter of fact, it bothers me that we can't take advantage of that deal.

Actually, I have a friend in Canada that could have ordered it, but seems a hassle when / if warranty issues arrive - particularly with international trade laws, if anything applies. Not even sure how that works ...

But Adorama has my order -- placed it before I saw the 24-70 deal so, will leave it. Lots of mixed reviews on the 24-70 lens too? Maybe that's why it drops into a kit, if it's not selling well.

Cause we're good boys. ;)
It has surely something to do with economy, and representation.
My friend ordered the kit with the 24-70 and want to sell it.
Sure, he has a $12000 lens for bird shooting, so when he sell's it it will pay for
the camera's tax.We pay 15% tax.
On the other hand, if americans buy the camera here, you pay less tax i think and you have your money that is 13% stronger....could be a good deal, if they ship in usa.

They ship to the US so buy it since it will be discounted heavily and we won't pay taxes either.

Some of my feedback

Is the 24-70 a STM, or is it a f4 or f2.8 USM? For the US kit it's the 18-135 STM. I'm debating about getting the kit whenever I buy the 7D2. From what I've read there is an advantage with STM vs USM for video (smoother focus): it's slower aperture then my USM L lenses, so I wouldn't use it as a primary lens. So if you're just going to use the 7D2 for stills, then no...no advantage with the kit lens.

Now this doesn't make any sense. B&H has apparently just come out with this bundle in the US, after rebate the cost is $2548.99. Through Aden Camera (Canada), with exchange rate (without shipping or taxes) the same bundle is $2299.

Its that way, a lot of the cameras in Canada are at a lower price.
Why? I dont really know.
So just order it in Canada, there will be shipping and duty tax....

It's Canon's fault that B&H can't sell it for lower. I'm sure they would if they could.

The point is that they're selling them together but at full retail price, minus the rebate. It's not the typical bundle.

If you buy it thru the "price watch" they say the price for 7D2 and 24-70 kit in Canada, the converted amount in USD is $2088 ... that is a really good deal if true. But I can't see how to order it ...

I have a 7D2 "body only" pre-order in now, but if this pans out, could easily return it - and re-order that kit -- almost too good a deal to pass up, if we can do it in the states legitimately. Not sure about that, and how the warranty would work. That's an expensive lens, and for $289, almost like a birthday present :)

That's Canon's fault. Minimum pricing thing. It's why you often see B&H basically giving things like CF cards and Oben monopods away for free when selling Canon bundles. They (B&H) are trying to stay competitive when under this restriction.

Just order directly from Camera Canada or any other Candian dealer with a similar price. There have been other Canadian deals which, after converting to the US dollar, which have been really good deals, most recently the big whites were a couple thousand cheaper buying from north of the border. Warranty is for North America so US or Canada, it should all work the same.

I cant imaging that the US will see a similar price for a while.

Don't have any idea how they are selling it so "low". But if you order it you can have them bill your credit card on the day they ship it out (better if CAD weakens against the USD on shipping date) or you can pay "in advance" via PayPal (better if CAD strengthens against the USD in the future). Either way since we're pretty close to shipping date, I seriously doubt the foreign exchange rate between CAD/USD will shift much.

I preordered and paid with PayPal.

Thanks for the correction, I posted Canada retail price by mistake rather than the converted price. It's a crazy good deal!

I didn't do the math -- but read it on that site ... so you all check it before you take my word for it. I'll probably check it tomorrow, will email my buddy in Canada and ask him to call locally and see. Then do conversion...
