We are currently 100% digital download, we shoot seniors, family and boudoir. I have not had anyone complain yet. Now as we start to make our way into weddings that may change, it will however still be our prefered method.

We set each client up with a password protected gallery on our website, they can download everything or just a few thats up to them. It also makes it easy for the family to share the login and password with other family members so they can download the files as well.

I had more issues when I was sending out DVD/CD's with customers not being able to open, or computer did not have a drive ... the list goes on and on. We now have a simple step by step listed on our website.

I purchased 50 custom flash drives with packaging thru here: http://www.usbmemorydirect.com/products/swm.htm (external link)

For 8gb flash drives w/padded container, I paid around $7 for each one.

In the future, I'd get faster drives and fancier containers.

Can you show me your drive T? Is it USB 2.0?

I'm not sure which drive it is but it's slow. I'd upgrade to a faster drive in my next batch for sure. My rep gave me the 8gb drives at the 4gb prices. Very friendly and helpful.

I believe that if you sell your client a tangible product, like dvd, usb etc containing your images, you are liable to collect sales tax, but if you offer digital download, since its not a tangible product, you do not have to collect/pay sales tax. Someone please correct me if i am off the mark.

Its not that simple. That interpretation would negate the fact that you are selling a service, rather than a product. Services are taxed differently in different states or taxcing jurisdictions. So some portion of their product could be subject to sales tax but not the entire amount. This is where an accountant should be consulted.
