Looks like a very nice tripod! Not cheap though, it's about what I paid for my most expensive Gitzo.
I live in the UK so prices may be different. A while back I had the opportunity to tryout a RRS tripod and was suitably impressed - better than Gitzo? Maybe, but certainly not by much - VERY nice tripod though! However the guy who bought it paid more than I did and he only had one tripod, I had 3 brand new Gitzos and 1 used one for 20GBP less!
Choices depend very much on where you live, especially with tripods!

Also - consider the Manfrotto 410 geared head. It's very nice, and not a lot of people know about it.

No you're right. The RC2 head plate is a piece of junk. I hate it. I only recommend the RC4 head place. That's the only one worth having.

Yes the induro is very light for its size and what it is made out of.

I guess I will have to stop replying to these threads, I have a Manfrotto tripod model 3031.
The RC2 connection is sloppy...............
Manfrotto still put the RC2 on the market and I could go to walmart and buy a 20 dollar tripod that wobbled just like my manfrotto ball head.........
That pretty much put a end to me buy anymore manfrotto products.

Everyone who I go or goes out with me to do photography loves the Induro tripod and Gimble over their own tripods , as in Manfrotto

Even though opinion is bias My Induro tripod is allot sturdier then the Manfrotto.
And the Gimble works very smooth and faster then what someone would expect.

IMO the Induro is a better tripod because it is allot sturdier then a manfrotto.

I live in northern Nevada and the wind blows here most of the time, never had a problem with the Induro tripod even thinking about blowing over.

Good luck in what ever you buy.

Farmer

Good point - my 410 is my preferred landscape head.

During my scenic route to tripod/ball head happiness, I bought a Manfrotto 68MGRC2 Hydrostatic Ball Head with RC2 Rapid Connect System. After I switched out the clamp for a Kirk Arca Swiss compatible screw knob clamp, it works pretty well. I still use it on one of those ground pods: http://www.amazon.com …hotography/dp/B0015YHG70/ (external link)

That said, if I were looking for a less expensive ball head, I'd get one of the very fine Sirui K ball heads like the K-30X or K-40X for a whole lot less.
