We're trying to print an 8x12 image to 9x12 paper. This is on a fairly new iMac with the latest driver. What looks like a non-printable region (showing as hash lines) is showing in the printer settings dialog. It is offset in the vertical by about an inch. Adjusting the image placement moves the image up but it gets obscured behind the non-prinable region.I can't find a border setting or any other configuration setting that might be the cause. Any ideas?

I use an Epson 2880, but don't recognise your description of the printer drivers display. I would have expected that provided the image is sized at 8 x 12 in whatever software you use, then unless you change anything, that's what would print. I assume you have tried it and that's not what happened?

No, it's an image preview panel where you can adjust printing parameters. There is some kind of mask appearing over this non-printable region. I've never seen it before. We thought the driver on the PC was bad but the Mac driver is worse. I've also been printing on a 3880 and that driver is a huge improvement.

Is this an Epson driver or something dreamed up by iMac? If the latter, then presumably it can be ignored and the Epson driver used instead?

I don't have an Epson printer, does it actually have a "setting" for 9x12 paper?

Richard: Yes it's the Epson driver and it gets updated by Apple.

Tony: Sure you can make custom sizes.

The mask looks too much like border settings on a document to ignore, e.g. large border at top and smaller on sides and bottom. However the print border settings are ignored. so it makes me think some kind of global setting I'm overlooking.

UPDATE: Found the problem. In the paper size selector there is an option to manage custom sizes. In that panel the 9x12 had a 1" top margin and .5" side margins. After setting those to 0 things line up correctly.

Thanks for the suggestions etc.
