These are mostly massive crops. Very close to 100% but being that it was my first time EVER seeing a Merlin I took what I could get.
All but the first were taken from the passenger seat of my wife's Highlander while it was running. I made her drive up to it in case it flew. I never flew. I snapped a few shots from different angles and left it.

Well done, Jeremy! Can hardly complain about those as your first images of a very quick bird :)

I agree...the crops held up nicely. Congratulations on photographing your first Merlin...a tough little raptor to approach and photograph.

Well done Jeremy.....and it's even on a branch and not a wire like its cousin the Kestrel likes so much. Next time maybe your wife will even turn the engine off ;)

Car blinds strike again!
Excellent job on these Jeremy and congrats on this first....certainly a first to remember. The first 2 images are my favorites for detail and showing what huge feet these guys have. Congrats on having an understanding wife too :)

Thanks for all the great comments.
You all are awake so early! Wow.

The first image was on a different tree and the first day
of my camping trip. I walked up within 50' of the Merlin.
The rest are from the car blind. I'm not sure how far I was
but I think it was more than 50'. The bird didn't care one bit
About me though. Such a cool falcon!
