Just curious if there are people here that use both bodies - I have several questions, mainly DR, low light and AF in a context of portrait focusing.

I cannot speak regarding the D810. However a friend of mine that shoots both wildlife and weddings works at a shop that sells and rents from hassie's, phase one, sony, nikon, canon. They rent most lens manufacturer they carry. They also rent virtually every strobe manufacturer. He will use a D810 before touching his Canon 5dmk3. Please understand his entire personal system he owns is Canon.

While shooting the breeze with him he finds without a doubt the D810 trumps his personal 5dmk3 in every regard. From what I gather since he knows the strengths and weaknesses of all of the camera's he sells and rents at his workplace. I trust his hands one experience with both platforms. He will gladly appreciate the larger headroom the D810 gives him compared to the extremely capable 5dmk3.

Sorta off topic but I looked at some bird wildlife photos with a D810/new tamron 150-600 lens vs his 5dmk3 and his personal 500L f/4 IS. The images from the nikon/tammy combo was incredible with the extra megapixels. The Canon and 10grand lens certainly had more micro contrast and better colours but to my eyes it was not aprox 10,000 dollars better than the cheaper D810/tammy combo!!!

The 5dmk3 looses in the both mega pixel race (realistically i prefer canon's 22.3 mpx) and ISO performance.

Here i am just happy with Canon accepting the weaknesses....... finances and investment in Canon is why I'm still with canon. However my dislikes of Canon attitude of being a pig headed on trickling technological advancements or maybe possibly they are hitting a plateau in their R&D department and should look elsewhere for external help.

While I handle a D810 at a shops counter...I cannot base my demands in that type of easy environment. However it seems there's a new following for nikon users buying a d750 for wedding shooting applications for lower reasonable mega pixels with killer AF and iso performance.
