Would you trade a 35L for a 24-70 F/4 IS?

I have a used 35L, and someone locally is getting a 7DII tomorrow and looking to trade the 24-70 F4IS that comes with it.

Would you trade your 35L for a 24-70 if you had it?

Just want some other opinions. More flexibility, a good pairing with my 70-200II?

The 35L is one of the best leans you can possibly get. See if that lens you are considering will do F/1.4 ??

On a 7D crop sensor, the FOV is dam near a perfect 50MM FOV. I think you would be out of your mind to give a fine lens like a 35L for a 24-70mm F/4 zoom...NO way is my thinking

I prefer a 50mm prime on a full frame body, so I would rather have the zoom lens. However, from a value standpoint the other person needs to kick in several hundred dollars to make that trade fair. A 35L's street value is much higher than that of a 24-70 f/4L IS.

Absolutely do not trade that 35 f/1.4 for the 24-70 f/4.

If it was the 24-70 f/2.8, then I would say to do the trade.

But the 35L is a professional stalwart, so don't give it up for a consumer level zoom, just because the consumer level zoom has an L in the name.

The 24-70 f4 IS is $999 when new or about $800 used or refurbished so use that to decide. Seems like they should add few hundred dollars considering that used 35L lenses go for around $1000. That said the 24-70 f4 IS is a very nice and versatile lens for full frame. I can't understand why they bundled it with a 7d crop body.

One thing to consider is, if enough people buy the 7d II 2/ 24-60 deal, it will drive down the used prices slowly like what happened with the 6d/24-105 combo that everyone bought.

If he threw some cash in with it to even the deal I might. The 24-70/4 is a nice little lens. Use the cash and put it towards a 35/2 IS for your lower light/shallow DOF needs.

Although for about the same cost of a 35/2 IS, You could keep your 35L and just add a 24-105.

The only lens that was worth trading was my current Sigma 35 1.4 Art
If you really want a zoom, the Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC was almost as good as 24-70 2.8L II

This is my current combo in this range, the 24-70 f4 IS and 35 f2 IS, which make a great lightweight pair on the 6D.
