Is 70D worht $250 more than t5i just for basic use. Will t5i has all those video servo AF features and touch to focus features. T5i weight and size might be more useful while going out with family. Looking for size and weight comparison. Will I gain any ISO improvement between t5i and 70D.

Thanks

The glaring differences you will find between the two is 70D's larger view finder, slightly larger and heavier, top LCD display (I usually don't view the back LCD). So for general use I don't think its worth extra money for you.

With money you save you could buy a sharp prime like the 40mm STM or new 24mm STM, both around $150 - 180

Thanks for the feedback. Placed order for 70D. Trying to see If I can cancel and go with t5i bundle. Is wight and size (feel) going to be very different? Is there any ISO improvement like 7D II with 70D.

Thanks

I don't think you would regret the 70D by any means - in fact I think you would be impressed. I don't know how the T5i does with high ISO. Get yourself Lightroom and it has marvellous noise reduction... I prefer the ergonomics of the 60D/70D vs the rebel, and the 50D/7D is a little bulky for my hands

What's wrong with your 600D? I had the 1000D for a little over 4 years when I started looking for a new body and I was set dead on 60D but ended up with the t4i because one of the main reason is the touch screen. Made taking selfies with my daughter when we are out and about much easier. With that being said, part of me wish I got out of the rebel lineup. So I say, if you're going to upgrade your t3i to t5i, might as well save the $ if nothing is wrong with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not able to place t5i order now with all the discounts. 70d order is still pending. Hopefully, it won't get cancelled.

Nothing wrong with my t3i. Tried to get on some deal on Canon refurb sale. I went with 70d in impulse instead of t5i. Getting t5i might have been like a free upgrade from t3i.

Ergonomics - top lcd - more AF points - I got used to using my 7D and now I use the top LCD way to much to not have it. I could get used to not having it if i had to but it really is nice to have, not to mention the buttons that go with the functionality of the top lcd. Also it (70d) runs on LP-E6 batteries, if that matters to you.

Also a 70d might hold up in used value over the t5i as time goes on....

And the sensors are "different" Digic5 vs Digic5+

AFMA would be nice to have as well...especially with your Sigma 30/1.4.

The much better AF of the 70D should come in handy also.

While IQ shouldn't be much better, add up all the little improvements over the T5i, and the 70D will be much more enjoyable to use (and will likely improve your results in certain types of shots).

I think you'll be pleased with the 70D.

Digic5 vs Digic5+

Aren't those processors? I thought they still share the same sensor.

Hahah oops, yea my bad. I read your post wrong! T5i has the 18mp sensor and the 70d has the 20.2mp sensor
