khwaja,

When I was moving up from my G12 to a DSLR, lots of people told me to start out with a Rebel..... but I didn't think I'd be happy with the functional limitations so I bought a 60D instead. The differences in actual use aren't subtle, at least to me.

I added a 70D to my kit earlier this year and I have to say, I'm glad I did. It's a fine camera. I think you'll be very happy.

T5i weight and size might be more useful while going out with family.

For these reasons, the T5i should be more than sufficient. Although I agree with everyone about the ergonomics of a xxD body, I often reach for my T3i for casual shooting.

Thanks Phonixkh. I am planning to make use of video features and switch to cheaper stm lens over the time. I checked out slrgear blur charts for 10-18mm and 55-250mm stm lens. They felt more similar (color representing blur) to sigma 18-35mm albeit at slower apertures. Still waiting on order update from Canon.

Thanks Sibil. Some reviews mentioned about size not that far off from Rebel. I am fine with little more weight as long as size is not that far off from t3i.

khwaja,

I'd give them a call. I just called about another item and they were very helpful. The main customer service number in the States is 800-652-2666. That way you can sort out your almost canceled order, etc., to see where they are with your 70D.

Not sure if it is a better idea to call them. I stacked up multiple coupons which is not allowed. Is it same situation with your order.

Hmmmmmm. Given that, you might be right to let things ride. I don't have anything on order from them. I was checking on the future availability of the 7D Mk II. I was wondering when the next production batch will show up. They don't know at this point.

Is 70D worht $250 more than t5i just for basic use. Will t5i has all those video servo AF features and touch to focus features. T5i weight and size might be more useful while going out with family. Looking for size and weight comparison. Will I gain any ISO improvement between t5i and 70D.

Thanks

Heya,

The MFA and Wifi of the 70D makes it to me worth $250 more than the T5i. If you need those features or appreciate them, it's worth it. I wish all Canon's cameras had MFA and Wifi. Such handy features, especially if using wide aperture lenses and/or really long telephoto. MFA just is wonderful to have.

That said, if that sounds like greek, then don't bother with either camera. Find a used T3i or T4i for even less. Nearly same quality images, nearly same quality ISO. Not worth fussing over. Or a used 60D. Same business. And instead put more effort into good glass.

Very best,

No question, for basic use, I'd stay with your 600D and upgrade glass.

You'll appreciate the 70D over the T5i the first time you mount a 70-200 2.8 or 300 f/4. The bigger body makes holding the bigger lens feel a lot more balanced. Enjoy your new camera.

If you were trying to stack coupons via the slick deals forum all of those orders have been canceled. You can currently use Pumpkin2014 for 20% off of all refurbished cameras (essentially the Canon Loyalty Program). This works for the 70D which is not part of the CLP as well.

If you've got the money, certainly go for it. I know a few basic users that have 5D3's and L glass. Buy what you can afford. I wouldnt think twice about a 70D vs t5i, 70D every time, but that's just me, $250 isnt a considerable difference to me, but the controls will be.

They are shipping some and canceling some. It is all over the place. My order is still in limbo.
