I have a 5D2 and a 6D. I truly love the ergonomics on the 6D. It's time for a third body and I'm thinking about getting another 6D. Before I do, there is only one thing that would make me rethink that.

Does a 5D3 have better high ISO performance than a 6D?, or is there another FF body I should be considering.

The other 5d3 stuff doesn't really matter much to me and I do like the slightly smaller 6D size, but for what I do high ISO ability is super important.

Thanks,

Tom

1DX

If you don't care about features and are not shopping the 1DX price point, then the 5D3 offers nothing over the 6D.

No. Here the 6D takes the prize!

Yep, just stick with the 6D then :)
I got the 5D3 because the other stuff was more important to me. (and the 5D3 was already lightyears ahead of what I was shooting before)

I borrowed a friend's 6D the other day and even 25K was totally usable for huge prints, insane how far they've come from just 10 years ago when just 800 was pushing it.

The 6D is a fantastic value for a high ISO camera, and If you can keep your center focus point on whatever subject you'll have the AF should work just fine.

The 1DX appears to have better high ISO compared to the 6D - I am certainly impressed with mine. However the advantage is SMALL - probably about 1/3 of a stop. That's not much for all that extra cash!
I love my 1DX because it suite my needs but if you don't need the AF and speed performance then the 6D looks to be the kiddie. It gives up very little in ISO and most claim the IQ is at least as good - maybe a touch better.
The 6D is a fine camera in my opinion - probably why I am saving for one!
