Also you can heal out the 2 distracting bits on the left side of your son's face in the shadows of the helmet if so desired.

You can try Lightroom and Photoshop for 30 days if you don't have it. I do have LR and that is where I edited these pics. I will mess with it a little and see what can do. Thanks! Jessi

I didn't realize you were going for the washed out look, but you may be losing data. If you look at the histogram, you're all the way to the right, but that could be the white area just to the right of his helmet.
