The screen is under the top hump on the camera. If you look straight into the mirror with the lens off, you're seeing the reflection of the focus screen just above it.

Nov 02, 2014 19:07 | #7 yea, its on the focusing screen. took some pictures and uploaded them real quick. nothing in them. and yea. i tried to blow it off. i probably made it worse i tried to lightly wipe it with a microfiber cloth like ones for eye glasses (not the car kind). didnt help. I'm just gonna leave it since it doesn't affect images.

It happened a year or so after I got the camera and I've just lived with it. After a while you don't even notice these things

Every dSLR I've owned has ended up with dust in the viewfinder. The first time it happened it bugged the heck out of me. Now, I do not even notice when I'm shooting. There are more important things to worry about -- such as dust on the sensor.

Nov 03, 2014 14:19 | #11 I have always wondered though - could dust on the main or second mirror affect AF? Everyone talks about how it doesn't affect the image because it isn't recorded...but I always wonder if it could impact AF if it lines up with an AF point on either mirror. Worse would be the second mirror as you have NO WAY of seeing it. Cameras: 7D2, S100

Nov 03, 2014 14:24 | #12 I also have some dust on my focusing screen. I don't even realize that it's there anymore. 7D | 100L | Σ 70-200 2.8 OS | Σ 10-20 4-5.6 | Σ 17-50 2.8 OS | Σ 50 1.4 | Σ 1.4x | 580 EX II | other stuff

Nov 04, 2014 13:33 | #14 I used to have a tiny little spider in my 1D4, he went away after a while and now I miss him/her. Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

Get a pro body - you get a better class of junk in the viewfinder! It ended up living in your monitor... "Be seeing you."
